The Old Slocum House Theater is Vancouver's oldest Non-Profit Community Theater; we celebrated 44 years in 2009. Hermine Decker, the founder of the company, and Robert Hidden adopted the old house before it was to be torn down, and had it brought up from the river to its current home in 1966.

The action centers on the producer's desire to do the film version of the novel (while changing it totally) and a film star's determination to play the lead part (although it calls for an actress of half her years).
